The best workout I have ever done is Zumba. It is a fitness class based upon Latin dance moves.
I participate in this class three times a week; each class is an hour long. We typically end the session with an abdominal workout and a cool down.
No equipment is needed for this exercise.
I started Zumba several months ago, at the age of 24. I will be turning 25 this summer and plan to continue doing Zumba.
I found Zumba through my health club. Prior to finding the class, I had heard a lot about the class from friends. When I saw that my health club was offering the class, I had to see for myself what all the hype was about.
When I began Zumba, I was not in great shape, but not in poor shape either. I was still trying to lose the baby weight from being pregnant with my son.
There was nothing difficult about Zumba. It was an intense workout, but I welcomed the intensity.
Not only did Zumba help me physically, by providing a high calorie-burning workout that was fun, it also helped me to feel better about myself and completely changed my attitude.
Zumba is led by a certified Zumba instructor. The instructors are extremely motivating and kind. They are fun and definitely believe in making Zumba the “party” atmosphere that makes Zumba so popular.
A Zumba class can include anywhere from 10-40 people. There are people of all shapes and sizes and physical abilities.
The workout is easy to tailor to your personal physical needs. The instructors are also of varying shapes and sizes as well as intensity levels.
Zumba classes are held 7 days a week. You can participate in as many classes as you want.
Because of the party atmosphere of Zumba, you want to go every day. Because Zumba is so fun, it is impossible to quit, and you make it all the way through the class because it is a blast!
You will be sore afterward if you are a beginner. As you become more advanced you can tailor the workout to be harder and to challenge you.
I feel stronger, more coordinated and confident after having participated in Zumba for a few months now. I still try to make it to as many Zumba classes a week as I can. I would go everyday if I could.
Everyone should try Zumba. Males, females, it doesn’t matter.
What other kind of party allows you to burn 600-700 calories in an hour and have a great time doing it? You will never want to run on a treadmill again.
