Zumba Dance Workoiut

The best workout I've ever done is a Zumba dance class. It's basically an hour long class that is divided into a number of different dance routines all done to different upbeat music (usually Latin but with some more modern ones thrown in).
Zumba is made up of latin, samba, salsa, tango, belly dance and lots of other different dance moves so there is lots of variety and there is no equipment used apart from your own body!
I'm 21 and go to the class every Sunday morning from 11am until 12 noon. I found out about the class after my friend recommended it to me and I'm so glad I decided to go. It's so much fun!
I had seen the Zumba dance workout DVD advertised on a shopping channel and was tempted to order it but then never got round to it and then completely forgot about it.
I'm not in bad shape as I do quite a lot of exercise to help me with my slimming world journey but I wanted to try something new and different that wouldn't feel like a chore as sitting on an exercise bike sometimes does.
It's not a difficult class but it does help to have a bit of rhythm. If dancing isn't your thing I wouldn't recommend it!
It has definitely helped improve my fitness physically and also my confidence mentally.
I was so nervous about walking into a dance class on my own and I thought it would all be super thin girls with amazing dancing skills but it turned out I was the youngest there. One girl even brought her nana!
No-one judges anybody and we all have a good giggle together too.
The dance instructor is a good motivator. She is happy for you to go at your own pace and if you feel you can't do any of the moves like jumping for example, she shows you an alternative that gives you the same workout.
There is also a lot of whooping and hollering going on, mainly from the instructor as she likes to get you going and make it more fun.
After the class, apart from being a bit sweaty and a bit achy, I always feel really good.
I'll definitely continue with it and would also recommend it to others who are looking for a fun way to exercise.
The only advice I would give is that if you do have any illnesses or physical problems speak to the instructor before the class and she/he will be able let you know if they think Zumba is right for you.
