That's like starting a vacation without knowing where you are going.
You might end up in Paris.
Or you might end up in Chicken Neck Falls.
Now, if you are the adventurous type that might be OK. For your vacation.
But it's not OK when it comes to weight loss.
If you put your heart and soul and sweat into getting a new body and you end up worse off than before, well, that's just not acceptable.
So, are you tired of struggling? Would you like it to be easier for you? Keep reading and I'll give you some tips that can turn things around for you.
Did you know that if you have a weight loss goal and reach it you are much more likely to keep the weight off?
If this sounds obvious, read it again. It is not at all obvious, and it is a point that most people miss.
There are three parts to it:
If you lose weight but don't quite get to your goal weight you'll probably gain all the weight back.
But if you hit your goal weight you have a better chance of keeping if off.
And that's the point isn't it? Don't just take it off. KEEP it off!
If you were shooting a bow and arrow you could just go out and shoot some arrows, and it might be kind of fun. But it is even more fun when you put up a target to shoot at.
The target gives you something to aim for. It tells you if you are on the right track. And when you hit the bulls-eye you know that you did well.
Setting a target for weight loss works the same way.
If you don't have a target you are kind of wandering around in the woods.
Let's say to don't have a target. Instead you say, "I am going on a diet."
Fine, you diet. But when do you stop?
Or you might say, "I want to be skinny."
But even then, how skinny? Is there an end in sight somewhere?
So here is a little quiz:
Which would you rather be?
That's right! You chose strong, sleek and sexy.
And that is what making a goal is all about.
In fact, here is an ideal that you have probably only dreamed about: You want a body where you have to eat just to keep up with the calories you are burning off. And that won't just happen by accident. It takes planning!
You have to know those three things before you start: how much weight do you need to lose, how much fat do you need to lose, and how long should it take.
Set these as the first part of your plan. Then you will be up to point "zero", which is your starting point, your jumping off point. Without this information you will either drift around aimlessly, or get caught up again in a futile effort of lose and regain.
But with something clear to aim at, with these three aspects of your future clearly in site, you can then build a successful program, one that will actually get you there and keep you there.
