A couple years ago, I decided I needed to lose some weight. Several family members had used Weight Watchers and sworn by it.
Being a guy in my early thirties, I was pretty hesitant about it as it seemed to be mostly women who attended Weight Watchers in my town.
I was so wrong. There were many other men of all different ages that attended the meetings.
The eating plan was really easy to stick to because you didn't have to only eat certain categories or types of foods. I still got to eat what I liked but just had to make some better choices of how much of those foods I ate.
While the eating plan, activity plan and the Points system all work, it is really the meetings that made it successful for me. Sharing tips, tricks and stories with other people that are trying to meet the goals that you are make it much easier.
Plus weighing in every week and having a chart of your progress helps make you accountable for your own weight loss.
I regained weight recently and decided that I'd do Weight Watcher again but just on my own. I figured I already knew the system and didn't want to pay to attend the meetings or take the time out to go.
It was a disaster!
The meetings are really what makes the system work and without them, I just do not journal my eating or stick to the plan. I'm going back to attending weekly meetings.
