Weight Watchers is one of the most popular, and oldest, diet plans out there. I looked into other plans but, as a vegetarian, they were all very limiting.
I didn’t want to rely on buying someone else’s food (besides, think of all those chemicals in that pre-packaged stuff!) And I couldn’t keep to a strict meal plan that included steak and chicken, only to substitute nuts and tofu.
I needed something to give me real freedom to make my own choices, but the skills to know what to choose (and the discipline not to eat 3 doughnuts every night!)
Also, since I was breast feeding, I needed something that would take that into consideration. That’s why I chose Weight Watchers after I had my baby.
I loved the meetings. Even though I knew about everything they were saying, it was like having a little pep talk every week.
I usually left the meetings feeling good about myself and my progress (even if I didn’t lose much that week) because the counselors are pretty upbeat.
I enjoyed being able to keep track of everything I ate and exercised – that appealed to my “list taking” side.
However, the weight I lost on Weight Watchers was slow, and I never reached my goal weight.
I quit about 10lbs before I got to my goal weight because I started to feel like I didn’t belong at the meetings! I was the thinnest woman there.
And at that point the weight was very slow, about 0.2lbs a week. So I couldn’t justify the expense.
I never reached my goal weight, and a few years later I’ve put back on some of the weight I lost – but not all of it.
