I gained 57 pounds while pregnant with my first child (I now have 3 children). I started at 100lbs, and after my daughter was born, I weighed in at 157lbs, which was a lot for me since I am only 4'10.
I had never really dieted in the past, so I wasn't sure what my plan would be. I decided to count calories and restrict myself to 1200 a day.
While grocery shopping for things I could eat, I realized that it was a lot easier to do this using the pre-made frozen Weight Watchers (Smart Ones) in the freezer section.
They had a good variety, and tasted much better than I had expected. Basically, it was regular food, just in a sensible portion.
I am a vegetarian, so I was a little more limited in my meal choices, but generally, I had a good variety of different meals each day. They ranged anywhere from about 220-340 calories per meal.
They also had desserts, which I loved! I found it easy to stay on the diet, and I didn't feel hungry at any point, because I was eating more small meals a day.
I actually felt like I was eating a lot more than I normally did when I wasn't trying to lose weight.
Within the first week I lost weight, and I steadily lost all of my pregnancy weight, 1-3lbs a week, until it was gone. And I was able to keep it off.
This diet worked so well for me, that I used it to lose the weight after each of my other two pregnancies and it has worked every time.
