I tried Atkins Diet when it first came out and was the big thing. It was so popular at the time and everyone had a story about how much weight they lost. I had to try it.
I stayed on it for about 6 months and lost a lot of weight to begin with. Then the weight loss slowed and I was finding it hard to incorporate into my daily life.
If I prepared all my meals and snacks for work it wasn't too difficult, but with two young children who has time to do that? I was spending a great deal of time shopping / preparing and I began missing days in which I packed my food and when I didn't bring the prepared food with me I found it difficult to stay on track.
I just found it hard to ensure that I wasn't eating carbs when I couldn't look at a label in the office cafeteria.
We also eat out a fair amount and though I could find / modify items to work with the diet it just became too difficult.
Eventually I stopped and gained some of my weight back. Not as significantly as some stories that I have heard though so I was happy.
I likely would not do this again, I just found it too time intensive. However, I would recommend it to others, but with the note that with two little ones I felt that it took a lot of time to shop / prepare.
