I would recommend Atkins Diet to anyone that is a bit over weight and addicted to carbohydrates and sweets.
After having 2 kids in 3 years, I was about 40 pounds overweight.
Not really having much time to exercise, I started looking for diets that I could do that would yield good results, but not too expensive.
Having 2 toddlers doesn't leave much money either.
My husband came home and told me about a friend at work that had lost 30 pounds on the Atkins diet. When I looked and found that it was all protein and no sugar, I was convinced. I would start the following Monday.
Having had gestational diabetes with both of my pregnancies, I really liked the no sugar aspect.
I started it and felt a little down for the first few days because I still had cravings for high carbohydrate foods and sugar. I would just stock up on more meat, cheese or eggs and not succumb to the pressure.
After about a week, I had no cravings at all. It was the best feeling to have lost 7 pounds in one week! I was starting to feel lighter, mover faster and breathe better.
By the end of the second week I lost a total of 13 pounds. After the second week I started incorporating vegetables into my diet.
At the end of a month I lost 30 pounds, felt great and had a huge amount of energy. Atkins is really the way to go for someone that cannot hit the gym for 3 to 5 hours a day.
I had to figure out ways to improvise when I went out to dinner. I would only order meat and veggies, or eggs and bacon.
I had one cup of coffee a day with no sweetener and drank one diet soda a day. The rest of the time I drank water.
AT the end of three months I went from 172 pounds to 136 pounds. I have never felt better than being on the Atkins diet, ever.
