First, take a look at where you are now and the progress you've made so far.
Are you at your goal weight? Or are you overweight and suffering?
How do you feel about the way you look? When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see?
You judge yourself every day in this way.
You are actually "grading" yourself. Do you get a passing grade?
You know there's more to losing weight than just "eat less, exercise more."
Are you getting the results you want? Are you losing weight and keeping it off?
Here's something that can help. It's a scoring system for you to use.
The system is a list of things -- good things and bad things -- that affect how heavy you are.
Go through this scoring system and add up what you are doing that's good.
And what you're doing that's not so good.
You'll be able to see where you could be doing better. And you'll be able to predict what kind of body you'll have in the end.
Are you "trying hard" but it's not working?
It's time to make some decisions about the kind of body that you want.
Do you want rolls of flab down to your knees? That would be an "F".
Or how about an average body, a few extra pounds here and there. That's a "C".
One big dividing line is exercise. Maybe you "just don't like to exercise."
Fine. But you still have to do something to get rid of those extra pounds.
So you have to decide what you are going to do. And what you aren't going to do.
Is it enough? Will it be effective?
How are you going to lose weight without exercise?
Or maybe you are going to have exercise in your routine. But exercise won't do it all.
You need to know how to lose weight with exercise and keep the weight off for good.
How much exercise do you need? And what else do you have to do to lose weight and keep it off?
So come on. Go through the scoring system. Add it up. See where you are doing well. And what you could do better.
Make some decisions for yourself. Follow through with those decisions.
