One day I was on a health forum and I heard about Atkins Diet, so I did a little research about it. I liked the fact that you don't have to restrict fat, which has always been my problem with other diets.
I had been trying to lose weight for a while, but I just couldn't stay consistent. I would do well for a couple of days, and then go back to my old habits.
I purchased the book "New Atkins for a New You" from Wal-Mart and I read it and decided to try it.
The morning of the first day was pretty easy. I did pretty well until dinner. That's when I realized that I usually have rice or some kind of pasta for dinner.
I can't even lie. I cheated for the first couple of days and had lots of carbs and sugar (Mountain Dew) for dinner. But I went back to the health forum and looked at a few body inspirations and got back on track.
Induction was a BEAST for me. I did not realize how much I was addicted to carbs, especially pasta, rice, and sugar. I felt like I had been hit by a truck after about 3 days, and I was about to give up after a week.
Then I looked at the scale. I lost 5 pounds!
I was so happy, so I stuck with it. I did induction for a month instead of two weeks and I have lost 20 pounds.
I start OWL (ongoing weight loss) on Monday. I am so excited about adding more carbs.
I think Atkins is great and would recommend it to anyone. I don't know if I can go on for life without eating pasta, though. I guess we'll see.
