Some news articles recently raised the subject of pole dancing as a fitness activity.
Hence the newest rage in the fitness scene is that of pole fitness. Even though pole dancing is an erotic form of dancing, it is physically very taxing. It requires high levels of energy and balance.
Pole dancing is an advanced form of exercise. It requires strength and balance. With any advanced exercise, whether running sprints or white water rafting or... pole dancing, you need to build up to it.
There are various fitness centres which provide courses and training programs on pole fitness. Pole fitness basically originated in the United States where pole dancing is very popular.
One of the interesting factors about this form of exercise is that there are competitions held wherein women can showcase their talents. This helps in making the sport popular and interesting. The viewership level of this sport is very high and this is a good motivational tool.
Before you start a program like this, you need to make sure you're ready. It won't do you any good to start a new exercise routine with high hopes and then end up injured.
You need a good fitness base before you start advanced exercise. There are three components to that base.
First, you should have developed your cardiovascular system through exercise which raises your heart rate and consumes oxygen. If you can run easily, especially if you can run sprints, you are probably in cardiovascular shape for an advanced routine exercise routine.Second, you should have developed your musculoskeletal system with resistance exercises. Resistance exercises -- like weight lifting, pushups, pullups and gymnastics -- develop strong bones, joints, ligaments and tendons as well as muscle.
And third you need a stretching program to provide flexibility and movement of your joints and connective tissues. This will help you avoid injury and maximize your results.
You'll want to warm up well each day before you attempt any movements on the pole. The pole dancing movements are like gymnastic routines, and it is easy to get injured if you are not thoroughly warmed up.
