When I was about 16, I went with my mum to a spinning session at our local leisure centre. We were going on holiday and both wanted some quick fat burning, muscle toning exercise classes to get us ready for our bikinis!
We had heard that spinning classes (for those of you who aren't sure, you just ride stationary bikes) were fun and you got the results fast, so we couldn't wait to go.
But as soon as I walked in, I wanted to leave! All the bikes were set out in a massive circle so everyone was staring at each other throughout the class.
The teacher kept walking round and putting his hand on your bottom (!) if you sat down when you were meant to be standing (which I did a lot)and then after a while I noticed that someone from school was opposite me grinning his head off. How embarrassing.
Most people may have found the class easy, but I wasn't in the best of shape at the time and was struggling within five minutes! After 30 minutes, I thought 'thank God it's over - any longer and I'll surely die' and then the instructor shouted out 'You're half way there guys!
It was like a nightmare.
To make matters worse, my mum was actually doing better than me.
As soon as I left, I vowed I would never in my whole life do another spinning class. But I must admit the effects must be quick if you do it regularly because I couldn't sit down for days without dropping down before I'd had chance to bend properly!! And I looked like a puppet walking out of the building, my legs were so shaky.
Shortly afterwards, I did start exercising regularly, which resulted in me losing about 21 pounds, making me my ideal weight now. But I now stick to less intense exercise methods.
