If you were grading your results, you'd want to get an "A", right?
Let's see what happens when you add exercise to your weight loss program.
If you do vigorous aerobics 5 times per week -- add 30%.
Do some heavy resistance training 2 times per week -- add 20%. You're up to 50%. That's an "F" so far.
If you don't do anything else you are going to be fat. You might be strong and fat, but you are going to be fat. So let's keep going.
But you don't have to do too much else to get up to a "B" or even an "A".
Improve your nutrition. Eat some good protein 5 times per day -- add 20%. And now you're up to 70 % -- a "C".
Drink plenty of water, get enough sleep, and take some vitamins -- add 10% for each of these. Now you're up to 100% -- an "A".
Now, if you don't do anything else to knock yourself down you'll be in good shape. You'll take off that extra weight and keep it off.
But even when you lose weight with exercise you can sabotage your efforts. How?
You can spoil your results with junk food. And hidden calories from soda really blow up your waistline. Drink a Coke or two everyday -- take off 20%. You're back down to 80% -- a "B" at best.
Go through the drive through and take off another 20% -- and you're back down to a "D".
You see, it's easier to lose weight with exercise, but you still have to do the other things right. It's actually pretty easy to spoil all your efforts.
You can't eat as much if you don't exercise! You always have to watch what you eat.
And I like to eat. I don't like to be hungry. And neither do you.
When you exercise you feel better. You can do more things. You can eat more food. You don't go hungry.
Did you know that besides burning fat, exercise helps control your appetite? If you exercise you won't be as hungry. You won't get so many cravings. Your appetite will be more normal.
Do you see why I am such a big fan of exercising and weight loss? Some aerobics? A little weight training?
The main reason is that it's so much easier. You can lose weight without exercise. But it's harder. And the results aren't as good.
You might take the weight off without exercise. But you won't look as good as if you were active.
And you won't feel as good. You won't be able to do as much. Life won't be as much fun for you.
I've done it both ways, and believe me, life is easier -- and better -- when you exercise.
So come on. Do it the easy way. Add a little exercise to your routine. And finally get the results you've always wanted.
