Workable weight loss programs have two parts to them. There's what you need to know -- the basic information of what works and why it works.
This is key. Many, many people fail on this one step -- they don't have the basic information they need and their weight loss efforts fail.
And there's what you need to do -- the steps you will take that are going to lead to your goal.
We all tend to look for the new and different. That's natural. But when you always look for something new, it's easy to fail.
Why? Because there are some parts to a workable weight loss program that are simple and basic and effective. Like getting enough sleep or enough water, they're not glamorous, but they work.
And if you overlook the simple things and just set your hopes on the "new weight loss miracle" you're not going to get results.
So be willing to take a new look at the old and familiar -- the things you might have forgotten or neglected. The things -- simple things like getting on the scale on a regular basis -- that you've dropped out of your program.
There are lots of things you can do that will help you lose weight. Some of the things are easy to do, and some are more difficult.
For instance, if you have a nice treat that you can look forward to, it can make watching what you eat a lot easier.
Is it cheesecake you like? Then plan ahead. Saturday night you'll have a slice of cheesecake. One slice, not two or three. A nice dessert, a little fun food.
That will show you that you can still have your treats and lose weight. And it will keep your from feeling too deprived.
So make sure you include all the easy things in your best weight loss plan. No use making it more difficult than it has to be.
There are lots of things you can do to lose weight. Some of the things can be quite difficult.
For example, you could possibly lose weight, at least temporarily, with ultra-low calorie dieting.
Or perhaps a super-intense, muscle-shredding, total-body-fitness exercise boot camp? Well, fine.
But before you decide on doing these things, give it some thought. Is it something that you can really stick with? Or will it just be another disappointment?
The best weight loss plan for you -- is what you can do, what you will do, to take off the weight and keep it off:
It is important to have successes along the way. So, take an honest appraisal of yourself and what you can do. If you are really going to get up every day at 5:00 and run six miles, then great. That's a wonderful way to start your day. But make it something that you really can do and will do. Otherwise you start stacking up failures rather than successes.
Find things that you can be successful with, and then do that. Keep it in on a daily basis. Then add the next thing that you can and will do. The successes will build and build. You'll discover strength that you never knew you had.
So that is the first thing to figure out: what is the best weight loss plan for you. Not for somebody else, but for you.
Here are some steps for you to take. First, find out more about how you can have successful weight loss.
Then on to what works and what doesn't when you are designing a diet and exercise plan.
You've been on diets before. Some of them worked for a while, but after you lost the weight it came right back.
And some of those diets -- even though they seemed like a good idea at the time -- didn't work at all. Why is that?
Why don't diets work like they are supposed to? Here is some weight loss advice that will help answer that question for you.
After all the things that you've tried didn't work, you need to know what does work. It's not so easy to figure out.
The weight loss field -- like the field of art, for example -- is full of half-truths and false information and "expert" opinion that can lead you astray.
You need real help with weight loss and not more false starts and dead ends.
If you've had too many failures it's easy to give up. I hear it all the time. "Diets don't work for me." "Exercise doesn't help."
And on the other side you hear people say, "If you'd only stop eating so much and get some exercise you could lose that weight." It can be disheartening.
You've heard it and seen it before. Programs that don't deliver what they promise. So what is really going to help you reach your weight loss goal?
There's another very basic question that you have to answer for yourself. And that is, "Why didn't I keep the weight off before?"
What has stopped you from having and following an effective weight loss plan and really keeping the weight off?
You have to answer it honestly for yourself. Because it will lead to everything else you are going to do. Really knowing and understanding this is the key to you finding the best weight loss plan, losing weight and keeping it off.
And finally, perhaps the most basic -- and most important-- question of all.
Is there a real, workable weight loss solution, one that you can and will follow, and that will lead you to your goal?
Take a good look. I think you'll find that there is.
