Travelling to different countries is fun, but sometimes people get too excited with their travel that they forget their own health in the process. You could enjoy the experience without additional inches on your waistline to show for it. Here are some tips worth remembering before embarking on a new vacation:
1. Do not overeat. When you are confronted with delectable dishes everywhere, it’s just so hard to resist—but you have to. Apart from your three square meals per day and some light snacks in between, you should lay low on all those sweets and carbs. After all, you don’t know how much calories a single no-sugar muffin actually gives.
2. Sleep well. Sometimes when you’re so excited, you can’t sleep—but you have to try. Even jetlagged, try catching up on sleep as much as possible. Staying up late just to go to more tourist spots should be avoided. Instead, why don’t you sleep early and wake up early to start your day right? If you’re having a hard time, try drinking a calming glass of milk or eat dinner with fruits that help relax your nerves, effectively knocking you out for the night.
3. Travel in comfortable clothing. Travelling to a new place wearing clothes that aren’t appropriate to the weather and the terrain would be hard and challenging. You could have hypothermia if you don’t have proper winter clothes. You could develop blisters and dry feet from walking around in uncomfortable heels.
4. Learn a few lifesaving lessons. What if you’re on a boat heading to an island destination and suddenly the boat turns over? Learn how to swim. Learn how to survive and you will not be fearful wherever you go.
